DJ Soulscape – The Sound of Seoul in New York [Video]

Da geht mein asiatisch-amerikanisches Herz auf:

DJ Soulscape, a critically acclaimed musician and an avid vinyl collector, has spearheaded a project to uncover the lost archives of Korea’s musical past. The Sound of Seoul and More Sound of Seoul compilations were conceived to revisit lost Korean music of the ‘60s and ‘70s. With the success of this series in Korea, Essentic in partnership with DJ Soulscape, have decided to coordinate several functions to introduce such unique vintage sound in conjunction to Soulscape’s recent trip to New York City.

The postwar Korean peninsula was a melting pot for both Eastern and Western cultures. This interaction led the music business to grow significantly as clubs were founded around the U.S. military bases. Many musicians who played for the clubs had interpreted and localized rock, jazz, soul and boogaloo in various styles. However, such unique music was suppressed and vanished due to the political interest of the military regime in the mid ‘70s. Today, the music that once thrived during those periods remains discontinued and forgotten.video by essenticNYC

Made By Hand – Breuckelen Gin-Herstellung [New York, Doku]

Breuckelen Distilling war der erste Gin-Hersteller, der nach Aufhebung der Prohibition dieses fantastische Getränk zubereitete und das in Brooklyn, NY City:

In our inaugural film, we visit the Breuckelen Distilling Company, the first gin distiller in Brooklyn since prohibition. Founder Brad Estabrooke talks about starting from nothing and the imperfect process of perfecting a craft. His experience bears a lesson for us all: knowing you could fail brings you that much closer to success.

How To Make It In America – Season 2 [new traileerrrrr]

Nur kurz vorweg: Kid Cudi x Lake Bell!

“The boys are back! When season 2 of How to Make It in America kicks off, Cam (Victor Rasuk) and Ben (Bryan Greenberg) are still trying to make their burgeoning denim line Crisp a household name. But as the company fails to catch on, friend and investor Kappo (Eddie Kaye Thomas) muses that it may take a bang – literally – for the pair to get some attention. Will the ambitious duo follow through? There’s a gunshot at the end of the season 2 trailer, which PEOPLE.com  derbysda.com is premiering exclusively. As for the rest, find out in October, when How to Make It in America, which also stars Lake Bell as Rachel, returns to HBO.”

Den neuen Titelsong (Theophilus London – I Stand Alone) hatte ich bereits vor einigen Tagen hier.

How to Make it in America – Staffel 2: Ab September auf HBO!!!

Ich würd sagen, das Ding is safe: How to make it in America Season 2 wird ab September bei HBO laufen:

“With the news of How to Make it in America’s renewal for a second season coming early 2010 its been sometime since we’ve heard much about the show. The cast and crew have been on hand in NYC the past few months filming and completing the second season. All signs point to season two returning this September according to Ian Edelman & Bryn Greenberg.”

UND, folgendes: Pusha-T wird in Folge 4 mitspielen:

Speaking to MTV, Greenberg (Ben) was asked what was in store for season 2:

“Oh man! Everything gets amped up! We figured out what works with the show, and the first season of a TV show everyone’s trying to figure it out, but it’s just more comedy. There’s a lot more stuff going on, the stakes are higher. It’s sexier; it’s edgier. This is a tighter show. I’m really excited to see it cut together.”

On a related note, fellow G.O.O.D. Music artist Pusha-T is joining the cast for a 4 episode arc as a drug dealer.”
